As the COVID-19 pandemic shuts down southern cities, in the central western Queensland town of Taroom, retailers are still doing good business.
"If anything, some of them have probably increased their business because all the locals are not travelling away, are not shopping away," Councillor Terri Boyce says.
Veteran shopkeeper Doug Adam says the Taroom has weathered plenty of tough times before.
"We've been through droughts and wet weather, floods and God only knows what, but we seem to be hanging in," he says.
